powerful short stories
submitted by camelsamba on July 14, 2017, 10:46pm
This is a collection of short stories, told from the perspective of children. The end of the audiobook has an interview with the author, and he mentions that he intentionally chose a niche of writing from the perspective of children.
"What language is that?" shows the power of friendship and how children can rise above the prejudices of their parents.
"My parent's bedroom" is distressing yet important because it is eye-opening. The reader adds power to the telling (better than if I were reading print; I probably would have given up in despair in that case). Separate from the tragedy, it was interesting to get snippets of insight into culture and rituals that were part of this family's life before the day that is central to the story.
