cute story! submitted by camelsamba on August 7, 2011, 10:21pm Although at first he wanted nothing to do with it, once we read it my 6yo wanted me to read this over and over. It's cute. A couple of reviewers (elsewhere) have commented on how much of the humor arises from the mismatch between text and illustrations. That's true, but it leaves me with the question: did they enjoy nature camp or not? Both words and illustrations suggest they did...

James and Eamon visit Eamon's grandparents for a week of "Nature Camp," though the illustrations show that the two may not experience as much of the great outdoors as the camp name implies.
The real delight of the book is the way the words and the illustrations work together to tell a complete (and slightly sarcastic) story. The text describes scenes that are expected from an actual nature camp, while the pencil and gouache drawings portray how the boys' time was really spent (playing video games, eating waffles, and watching television). Though there is often a long paragraph of text on each page, the illustrations provide enough entertainment that children will be unlikely to want to preemptively turn the page.
A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever is a book kids will want to reread, and adults won't mind reading again.
Fun submitted by lulumama on August 24, 2013, 5:46pm My son seemed to like it although some of the jokes went over his head.
enjoyed submitted by fairytale on August 25, 2013, 8:46am Enjoyed this book - liked the format as well. Lots of humor throughout.
I want to go with them! submitted by doctorfang on August 2, 2014, 6:59pm This is a fun book about two boys going on summer vacation together. The illustrations are marvelous, but the story is even more endearing. I read this book so many times with my 6-year-old son, but I never tired of it. THAT's saying something!
