Adventurous Funny Story submitted by angejohn on July 21, 2011, 7:46pm Our protagonist shares her story of being coming of age and self reflections of racial identity. I laughed and marveled at her ability to keep her life and experiences and personal identity in balance as she navigated international travel experiences between Spain and the U.S. A Worthwhile read.
Interesting Memoir submitted by sdunav on July 6, 2016, 7:49am The author grew up in Milwaukee in an upper middle-class African-American family, mostly attending private (and primarily white) schools. Her experiences with casual racism are enlightening, as are her look at racism in Spain, where she went as an exchange student in college, and then repeatedly to visit Spanish in-laws. The last chapter on Spanish history and slavery was also fascinating.
