"Based on the story by W. Somerset Maugham."
Originally released as a motion picture in 1928.
Film was restored in 1987 by Dennis Doros, Kino International. Because the last scenes were missing from the sole existing print, the final minutes have been recreated using the original script, the star's own collection of stills, film footage and an orchestral score commissioned for the completed film.
Special features include: Illustrated essay, "The many faces of Sadie Thompson" ; scene comparisons ; alternate endings ; production photo gallery.
Gloria Swanson, Lionel Barrymore, Raoul Walsh, Charles Lane, Florence Midgley, James A. Marcus, Sophia Artega, Will Stanton.
Stranded passengers on Pago Pago during an epidemic including Sadie Thompson, a prostitute and a reformer whose lust for her masquerades as a desire to save her soul. Unable to accept his sin, Alfred Davidson cuts his throat and Sadie goes to Sydney with an admiring marine.
