Classic SciFi

The Thing From Another World is a classic science fiction alien monster story. Watching it now, it will probably feel somewhat dated, but fans of science fiction, horror, or monster movies will recognize how many later works strive to hit the same notes. It is great in its own right as well as being an influence on some of the best modern genre films.
(If the plot sounds awfully familiar, it's because John Carpenter's "The Thing" was adapted from this story - and that in turn has been very influential on subsequent works.)
Watch the 80's remake, it's vastly superior

I think I was massively spoiled by 1982's The Thing.
It's a masterpiece of tension, paranoia and horror and this just couldn't compete.
The sets all looked liked sets and like many older movies the pace was glacially slow and there wasn't anything all that interesting from a character or story standpoint.
It certainly gets credit for being an early sci-fi before it was really a genre but I'll probably never watch this again.
