A Unique Local Rap Scene submitted by Meginator on July 22, 2021, 9:20pm Even without speaking Portuguese, it’s easy to appreciate these crisp beats and smooth flows, which take inspiration from a range of hip-hop influences. Most of these tracks feel relatively modern, with a few nods to the early 1990s, and many are infused with energy and emotion that comes through just from the rhythm of the words and the delivery thereof. The biggest surprise, for me, is that few of these tracks incorporate traditional Brazilian folk music, but they are no less compelling and still feel quintessentially of a particular cultural space.
