Really interesting submitted by dicencal on July 30, 2016, 5:36pm Maggie O'Farrell's novel is in the tradition of narratives featuring "mad" women have been locked up or declared mad because other people saw them as troublesome or inconvenient (e.g., Lady Audley's Secret, Jane Eyre, the Yellow Wallpaper). O'Farrell's book is a smart and absorbing feminist consideration of this theme.
