Good Information, Chaotic Presentation submitted by Meginator on July 8, 2017, 8:57pm This book contains a lot of interesting information about the history and evolution of country music and some of the important figures in its development (I learned things!), but the information is presented somewhat haphazardly and it can be difficult to figure out what's going on. The book generally follows a chronological thread, tracking the development of different country subgenres from the 1920s to the 1970s, but it is peppered with interludes about country music in general and, weirdly, bluegrass (which it presented completely out of its temporal context). These interludes are often funny and interactive, but they take up two-page spreads and are completely divorced from the surrounding historical context; I got confused reading this as an adult whose brain constantly bounces between subjects and I don't know if much of the target audience would fare any better than I did. The information is easy enough to digest on a spread-by-spread basis, but the book sort of falls apart as a whole when read cover to cover.
