Excellent! submitted by 21621031390949 on July 6, 2011, 9:12am One of Pratchett's best in the Discworld series.
Fun for everyone submitted by brady.emmett on July 12, 2011, 9:32pm Pratchett does it again. I can never tell how he is going to pull together a plot as complex as the ones he runs, but he manages every time. The pay off is really a lot of fun. The reader for the audiobook makes it a special treat too.
my beloved diskworld
submitted by ferdoble on August 11, 2011, 3:49pm
To describe Terry Pratchett’s books is a difficult thing to do. The disc world series is in a word fantastic. Terry Pratchett, would seem to use the disk world, to take any theme, or know story and then twist it in his own very humorous way. These are not always laugh out loud funny (sometimes they are), bur rather the sort of funny that just sort of lifts your spirits a little bit.
I will say that in some cases there isn’t always a really strong story, sometimes its just his characters moving through one of those twisted themes. I like them all, you may want to start with the Most Von Lipwig story line (“Going Postal” and then “making money”) as at least the first one has a really great story line.
I love to pepper my reading queue with these books to keep all those books that take themselves seriously fresh and interesting.
I recommend reading them ALL.
OR listening to them. The two main narrators of Terry Pratchett’s books are Stephen Briggs & Nigel Planer and they take Terry Pratchett’s phenomenal writing to a whole new level.
More hilarious fun in the Discworld
submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 13, 2012, 8:12pm
Sir Terry Pratchett brings us another hilarious Discworld novel. This time, he ridicules traffic cops, Scotland's Stone of Scone and racial tensions. The plot involves City Watch Sam Vimes investigating the theft of the Stone, which the Dwarf prince needs in order to be legally crowned king. The book includes vampires and werewolves as well and the ensuing hilarious jokes about dogs, which dog owners everywhere will appreciate.
Pratchett has written 39 Discworld novels because the public love them so much and he is one of Britain's most beloved authors. I highly recommend all his novels.
Terry Prachett submitted by unknown on August 10, 2013, 10:01pm This is an unabridged audiobook.
Political Intrigue submitted by audreyh on June 15, 2015, 2:22pm This novel has it all--intrigue, mystery, and Sam Vimes. Vimes is easily one of Pratchett's best characters, and this is one of the first novels in which he really shines. It's hard to pick a single best novel with Pratchett, but this is a strong contender.
