Love is blind submitted by tarascon on July 23, 2023, 2:44pm A tale of love, sacrifice, and redemption by one of the three masters of classical Japanese cinema (the other two being Ozu & Kurosawa). Relaxed pacing, scene framing, musical score. And the rich gray-tone cinematography is as good as it gets—right up there with Bergman.

In the mood for a traditional Japanese ghost story? Look past “Ringu” and try Mizoguchi’s “Ugetsu.”
