Mouse is still alive!
submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 22, 2012, 2:05pm
I love all of Armistead Maupin's books, especially the "Tales of the City" series, so I delighted to see this latest (by many, many years) installation.
Start with "Tales of the City" and work through the books chronologically to this one so you'll understand the complex plots and character development.
"Michael Tollier Lives" tells us how Mouse (as he is nicknamed) has survived the scourge of the 1980s and is still living with HIV in the 2000s. He is one of the characters I loved the most in the first "Tales of the City" books.
The series is full of compelling page-turners with mystery, romance and surprise. The characters draw you in. For those who lived through the 1970s, the first books series will feel like a homecoming but everyone can relate to this latest one. Set in San Francisco, "Tales of the City" and its sequels explores the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters and their straight friends.
