Great Book submitted by andy101 on August 12, 2011, 10:05am This book is a must-read for anyone interested in American history. Beschloss has certainly done his research, and this book is filled with fascinating facts and captivating stories. Beschloss takes the reader behind the scenes, revealing the difficulty behind each and every decision the President makes. If nothing else, I learned from this book that the job of leading the United States is not easy. The emotional strain, the media's ridicule, the pressure from others trying to pull the President to their side, even the fear of being remembered in history for the wrong reasons - all of these can be overwhelming for the President. However, Beschloss also shows how every President in this book fought through this adversity, and in the end, they made the right decision. From reading this book, I gained an appreciation for what goes on in Washington, and I also got a deeper understanding of what truly happened in some of America's greatest and most important events - from Jay's Treaty to Israeli independence. For these reasons, I recommend "Presidential Courage" for readers interested in this country's history.
Basic American history submitted by m steve on June 13, 2021, 6:08am This is a decent basic survey of presidential history.
