Want to know what it's like? submitted by valerieclaires on August 18, 2014, 10:43am Mozart and the Whale features one of the best depictions of two autistic young adults I have seen. Parts of the movie hurt to watch because of how much I could relate to the characters growing up and navigating the world, especially the world of relationships and dating. If youi are autistic or have sensory issues, too, you might want to take a break right before or after the fun fair scene, or skip it entirely. The super-accurate interpretaton of sensory overload started to overload me as I was watching, and I needed to pause it in the middle so I could calm down.

Overall, this film is a very accurate, sometimes too accurate, portrayal of young adults with Asperger's Syndrome.Watch it for some introspection if you're autistic, too. Show it to friends or family members to help them understand. Aside from the autism factor, it's a cute romance film with nice, quirky characters. Give it a watch.
