When college student David Rain rents a room in an unusual boardinghouse full of clay dragons, he has no idea that they, along with some lively squirrels, will help jumpstart his writing career.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
The first Dragon Chronicles book submitted by honordenver on June 27, 2011, 5:28pm This book was the worst book in the series and it's still better then Harry Potter. The book starts off with David Rain applying to rent a room. The owners of the house {Liz and her daughter Lucy} make clay dragons and give him one for a welcome present. What he dose not is that Lucy and Liz are hiding a secret about those clay dragons that will change david's life forever.
Griffon's thoughts submitted by squijum on July 18, 2011, 11:08am a great first book - definitely better than I could do - it's thrilling, edge-of-your chair reading - make sure to read the others!!!!!
not that great submitted by czudak on September 11, 2016, 3:39pm My daughter (9) has become enamored of the series, mostly because Lucy is her age. But the prose is clunky, I stumbled a lot when I read it out loud to my son (6). The plot feels dull and contrived. The story is mostly told from the point of view of David, who is least interesting character. Even the squirrel Conker has a more compelling story ark. We started by reading a later book in the series, and it was even more contrived, plus convoluted. I was seriously puzzled as to why this is a NYT best selling series. No offense to D'Lacey. He seems to write his books with good intentions and high energy. But he's no great shakes as a writer.
