Some real chinese dishes submitted by csheilac on July 5, 2016, 11:03pm I haven't tried making any of the recipes yet so I can't vouch for taste and some ingredients will be difficult to find, but the book is visually attractive with plenty of color photos. I also liked seeing dishes that I have tried in nice restaurants in China -- these recipes aren't just teaching you the basic home cooking, and they're definitely not just lo mein and orange chicken recipes. Regional cuisines nicely laid out.
Classic Chinese Cookbook submitted by SBNB on August 11, 2016, 11:18am There seem to be some authentic Chinese recipes in here (I can't say for sure since I've never been to China), but there are also some dishes you would find at an American Chinese restaurant. Glancing through, I saw kung pao, sweet and sour, fried rice, and eggdrop soup. Many of the ingredients are not things I keep stocked in my house, so to make any of these recipes, I would have to go shopping maybe to one of the many Asian groceries in town. The pictures are nice, and at the beginning of the book, there are pictures and explanations of the specific ingredients and preparation techniques. Overall, it seems like a good cookbook, although there aren't many recipes I would like to try.
