In South Boston, the state police force are waging a war on Irish-American organized crime. Undercover cop Billy Costigan is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate, which is run by gangland chief Frank Costello. Billy quickly gains Costello's confidence. Colin Sullivan is a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the police department as an informer for the syndicate. Colin is rising to a position of power within the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the mob and the police that there's a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly thrust into danger. Afraid of being caught and exposed to the enemy, they each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.

Library Credit Error submitted by Pauline.1965 on December 4, 2011, 12:04pm This is a wonderful movie. Highly recommend it. One small thing, Brad Pitt is listed as being a cast member in the AA Library database, and Brad Pitt is definitely not in this film.

Watch it! submitted by monipate on July 30, 2012, 8:51pm Too much violence and swearing (and I swear a lot), but such a great story and filled with talent. Worth watching.

Not a Library Credit Error submitted by AMP35 on February 2, 2013, 4:45pm Great movie, one of my favorites. However it is not a library credit error. Brad Pitt's name is right next to Graham King because, like King, Pitt is a producer for this film. Plan B Entertainment is a production company founded by Brad Pitt.

Irish submitted by crazypockets on June 19, 2013, 4:24pm I liked this because it was a different kind of organized crime movie. At least it was for me. I've seen Italian mob, Russian mob, etc., but it was interesting to see the Irish side to things. The acting was great all around, and even though it wasn't the type of movie I would usually like, I really did enjoy it.
