COMMUNITY REVIEWS

The Devil Wears Prada submitted by kmkeahl on June 22, 2011, 5:45pm A great movie about hard work and fashion. Its about a woman whose name is Andy (played by Anne Hathaway) who is trying to find a job in New York. She goes to an interview at Runway Magazine, little did she know that Miranda (the head of Runway) was really tough manager. She would always want it her way and no other way. Andy got the job and was put to work as one of Mirandas assistants. Everyday she would have to put up with demands of Miranda. On top of a tough manager, her fashion was also lacking. After deciding she was going to change her ways, she became one of the most fashionable people working for Miranda and her work improved along with her fashion.

Love it! submitted by Sonia on June 30, 2011, 11:55am Meryl Streep is awesome in this movie as an evil boss and Anne Hathaway does a great transformation tfrom awkward and sloppy to a sophisticated fashionista. Its a must see!

Fine, not great submitted by cherylo on July 23, 2011, 8:39pm The performances and design on this movie were excellent...if only to see Meryl Streep so put together and platinum-blonde, it was worth a look, and I really enjoyed Stanley Tucci's performance as a Tim Gunn analogue. But this movie was a pale reflection of what it could have been.

Great Acting submitted by andreahubert on June 26, 2012, 7:24am This movie has great acting. Stanely Tucci, Meryl Streep, and Anne Hathaway are all hilarious.

Lessons submitted by kathleen824 on August 4, 2012, 6:49pm Andy (Ann Hathaway), scores an assistants job at a top fashion magazine run by Miranda (Meryl Streep). Andy seems to be in over her head and just not fashionable enough to have won such a coveted position. She is put through the paces and and undergoes a transformation. The question is.... is Andy really where she wants to be?

prada devil submitted by hcf on July 28, 2014, 5:00pm meryl streep OWNS this movie

Pretty good submitted by leenajong on July 11, 2015, 8:16am Love it!!

For the Working Woman submitted by LibraryLiz on July 23, 2016, 3:45pm I think this movie is great not only for it's fabulous fashion and comedic gems, but the fact that it surrounds a woman entering the working world and learning to prioritize what she wants and what she's willing to work for. It's not always about whether you can do it but whether you want to, or should do. Plus - it's got the one and only Meryl Streep! Such a fantastic movie :)

One of my favorite movies submitted by Lila F. on June 16, 2019, 10:50pm Such a good movie!

A relatable and fun story submitted by kecolyer on July 19, 2019, 2:36pm This movie is great for young female professionals or college students. As women are gaining more access to positions of power in the workforce, interesting dynamics are taking shape. I loved Anne Hathaway's portrayal of the all-too-familiar "family/friends/life vs. employer" trope. It's really witty and Meryl Streep really can do no wrong.

a feel good movie submitted by yufamily on August 4, 2019, 2:02pm A jolly good time with Meryl Streep

Superb submitted by crp on August 31, 2019, 11:54pm Superb acting and aesthetics ; Meryl Streep is amazing as a doppelgänger for Anna Wintour

good movie submitted by kscapellie on July 11, 2020, 8:38am love some of the fashions

Great acting, good message submitted by annikajoyce on July 26, 2020, 1:00pm This is a fun one and filled with really talented actors. Meryl Streep really nails her character. :) Definitely worth watching.

VOGUE-alicious submitted by purchasingqueen on July 1, 2023, 5:21pm Supposedly based on the real-life editor of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour, the story revolves around 'Miranda' (Meryl Streep, who nails her character) and her relationship with her new second assistant, Andy (Anne Hathaway). Emily Blunt plays the first assistant and is intentionally mean to Andy. Andy is woefully clueless about fashion and does not know how to stand up to her boss when she is hired. She ends up getting a lot of coffee and doing ridiculous errands for Miranda at all hours. One of the magazine's fashion editors (Stanley Tucci) takes pity on Andy and teaches her how to dress and how to 'work with' Miranda. Andy rises at the magazine but, at the end, has to make a decision on what is truly important - her job or her life. Streep and Hathaway are great in their starring roles and Blunt and Tucci make great supporting characters. Well acted by all.

Very Funny submitted by delenich on July 5, 2023, 10:43am Comedy-drama film released in 2006, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. Light hearted and funny, its satirical take on the fashion industry while exploring themes of ambition, identity, and the sacrifices people make in pursuit of success.

Okay submitted by Mtadams on July 27, 2023, 8:36am I liked the movie, but not as much as others - who love it. Gucci's performance is what I liked most about it
