Originally released as a motion picture in 1966.
Matthieu Carrière, Marian Seidowsky, Bernd Tischer, Barbara Steele.
Young Törless is to go to boarding school. His experiences there, the merciless torments of the pupils among themselves and the unsatisfactory answers of his teachers make it clear to Törless that good and bad cannot be differentiated in life. The boy leaves the boarding school at his own request after a short while. The incipient social and personal deformation in Musil's novel is skillfully implemented by Schlöndorff in close correspondence with the text but also in a more distant manner.
DVD, (1.75:1 aspect ratio).
Contents: Junge Törless.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Interesting submitted by chowcy on July 28, 2012, 10:22pm This is definitely a film that is driven by philosophy and thoughts, rather than any particular plot. We see schoolboy cruelty through the eyes of a young, curious, intelligent boy. I thought it was great.
