Not simply audacious - stunning. submitted by bigal1825 on February 29, 2008, 12:34pm This man clearly has a good head on his shoulders. The book was spectacular to hear spoken by him. His vision and policies are transcendent - liberals should be thrilled that we have an advocate for our side like Barack Obama. And there's a reality to his life experience that resonated with me, and likely will with most Michiganders and Ann Arbor residents, as well.

Hope? submitted by jeffrey.hoopes on August 9, 2009, 11:24pm I was hoping for some kind of uplifting book about real implementable policies that are worth hoping for. But, instead, I got the same, nice sounding, empty rhetoric that was repeated over and over again during the election. For example, there is a long section on how partisan politics is, and how that should stop. Now, there have been many votes on issues pushed by the Obama administration that have been voted on strictly partisan lines, and many "negotiatons" with the right have ended with the administrations saying, "We have a strong majority, agree or not, we dont really care." I just get the feeling that Obama could write a nice, uplifting book that gives a country that needs it hope, but, this was not that book.

On the plus side, I really like hope Obama reads it himself.

Don't pass this one up! submitted by mickplu on July 28, 2019, 10:35am I loved this audio version as it meant more to hear Obama read it aloud. The book is very insightful and will undoubtedly be read again and again throughout history.
