Clementine is just too much. This girl is creative to a fault, but it only makes her more enjoyable. Embittered about being named after a fruit, she decides that her baby brother should be named after a vegetable ("because the only thing worse than a fruit name, is a vegetable name"), so he is known as Asparagus, Brussels Sprout, Lima Bean, Rutabaga, etc. She gets into trouble at school for not paying attention, when in fact she pays more attention than most people--just not to the things that she's supposed to be focusing on. In this book, Clementine tries to help her friend Margaret when Margaret gives herself a bad haircut, even though Clementine is a little bit angry about how Margaret behaved at her birthday party. Many girls will be able to relate to Clementines worries and frustrations as she deals with this and other issues at home and school. Through it all, Clementine will keep you laughing! Recommended for grades 1-4.
P.S. The audiobook is great, too.
