Audacious Effort submitted by Meginator on June 22, 2019, 10:36am This release, comprising four discs in different musical styles, is nothing if not ambitious; thankfully, Vince Gill has the talent to pull it off. Disc 1 incorporates elements of rock and roll, soul, and country to create a classic sound that pays tribute to rock's roots. Discs 2 and 3 are made up primarily of ballads drawing mostly on pop and traditional country, respectively; though heartfelt, many of these tracks ran together to my ears. Disc 4 starts off with upbeat bluegrass but eventually settles into an introspective mode as well. Vince Gill has incredible range and each disc has a few standout tracks, with musical influences from each project influencing the others. It's an inarguably audacious effort, and a largely successful one.
