screwball comedy submitted by unknown on July 11, 2007, 6:09am Natural born charmer has it's roots in the 1930's screwball comedies, ramped up a few notches for the modern day. It has the snappy dialogue of a Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy, Wm Powell/Myrna Loy and Fred Astire/Ginger Rodgers film. A very handsome football player picks up a sweaty girl in a beaver costume, he calls her the Beav. Add to the mix estranged family members, house renovation (always funny- if happening to someone else) and local characters. I recommend the books of Susan Elizabeth Phillips because there are laugh out loud, tears running down your face parts.

Fabulous book submitted by clmcdl on July 7, 2015, 9:18pm We love all the books by Susan Elizabeth Phillips! We've read and listened to them over and over. She has a real knack for writing fun characters and putting them in funny situations. Fabulous character development, and it's always fun to see the characters reappear in subsequent novels. Read them and laugh. The only disappointment is that she isn't as prolific a writer as Nora Roberts, because we'd love to see three or four of her books published every year. The Beaver is great.

Natural Born Charmer is highly recommended submitted by pamhockey25 on August 2, 2019, 1:44pm --A Chicago Stars Romance
Susan Elizabeth Phillips romances are always well-written and fun to read with well-drawn quirky characters and snappy dialog.

Take one handsome football star, add one quirky portrait painter. Put them in Tennessee with one mother trying to atone for her past, a rock star past his prime, a runaway teen, and a cranky old lady. Mix together with hilarious results. Recommended reading!
