Veronica rocks! submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 24, 2012, 10:29am Veronica Mars is a modern high school student whose dad was Sheriff until Veronica's best friend (who's also her boyfriend's sister) is murdered. Unable to solve the case in time, her dad gets voted out of office and becomes a private detective. Veronica helps him with her cases but also does a lot of sleuthing for her friends and classmates. Veronica is tough, smart and a smart-alleck. She's a great lead character who solves the problems and doesn't wait for someone to rescue her.

In many ways, Veronica reminds me of Buffy Summers, although this is a detective show, not sci fi/fantasy.
