COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Pirate Radio submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on August 11, 2014, 11:48am Incredible assortment of modern performers on these rougish sea shanties. Nick Cave is probably the best, but there's a lot of great (and odd) material on this album.

Documentary CD submitted by Meginator on June 24, 2017, 9:48am This compilation is particularly interesting as it acts like a documentary history of sea-inspired songs. Don't be fooled by the pirate label: these are folk songs, pure and simple. There's a good mix of slower and faster songs, and some may be familiar if you listen to a lot of folk music. A lot of the songs have prominent Irish influences and it's interesting to hear bits of other musical cultures as well. The variety is impressive and the album offers an interesting change of pace.
