Another Wonderful Renko Tale submitted by koop on April 27, 2008, 4:13pm If you are a fan of the tales of Russian policeman Arkady Renko, whose story first began with the superb Gorky Park, then you will truly enjoy this book.

Martin Cruz Smith is a true treasure as an author. His stories blend current events in Russia with the life of truly compelling anti-hero, Investigator Arkady Renko. The backdrop is as cold and bleak as a Russian winter, the characters as bracing as a shot of ice cold vodka.

If you are new to the series, I would recommend starting with Smith's Wolves Eat Dogs first. That book will help establish background and character.
