She's Definitely Under the Influence submitted by Slavewoman on March 31, 2007, 2:09pm This book is R rated for drugs, sex, and language. It's funny in parts, and very crude in parts. I was not able to leave it out on the table because it is definitely not something children should see. As far as the content, well, she has some interesting ideas, but nothing ground breaking. I'm just glad I didn't buy it.

The perfect book for the hipster party host submitted by Annimatronic on October 30, 2009, 7:46pm This is not your grandma's party planning book (unless your grandma was a beer-swilling honkeytonker like mine, but I don't think even she would get this book). Keep in mind this book was written by a woman who, according to her brother, David Sedaris, wanted to own a fat suit but could only afford the bottom half. She then wore this fat-bottom suit to visit her father and led him to believe for roughly a week that she had put on significant weight. You may also know Amy from the show Strangers with Candy.

This book is highly entertaining for those who like to entertain (and those who don't). Amy covers many party themes from entertaining a rich uncle to inviting over complete strangers. She throws in recipes and life lessons. However, I have not tried her recipes or her life lessons, so satisfaction is not guaranteed.

If you take anything from this book, it's this: Fill your medicine cabinet with marbles before inviting over friends. That way you can pinpoint the intrusive snoop in your life.

Amy! submitted by KOH on August 30, 2017, 9:31pm She is so funny!
