The film does a great job at taking the 'hard boiled' detective style and setting it in a high school environment. The dialogue is fantastic, sparse, and intelligent. You'll need to pay attention if you want to keep up.
Many years have passed since I was in high school, but I was still hooked into the story line. Its not a dramatic flick about pining for some undead lover, getting into the school play, or making the football team (thankfully).
