Emma Thompson submitted by willow on August 22, 2016, 6:46pm is charming in this movie about a scary-magical nanny with a gaggle of horrendous children, but Colin Firth is not appealing at all, and the loathesome gold-digger character trying to marry him was not a very pleasant addition to the movie.

The book on which it is based, has married parents and no such drama. I didn't think it added anything positive to the plot.

Watch & Learn submitted by gem on June 20, 2018, 11:38pm This movie has a lot of subtle (and not so subtle) tips on how to make it when facing things that are either out of your control or within your control, yet you are not really making the effort to control. It also touches on what can happen when you begin to open your heart and a relationship begins to blossom in healthy ways. It has a few twists and turns. It was worth my time to watch.

It is nice to see the children transform and sad when Nanny McPhee has to leave. It also stars Colin Firth as the dad and Angela Lansbury as the disgruntled great aunt.
