Vice Commander Fuyutsuki is being held and questioned by SEELE. He reveals the background on Yui Ikari, Misato, Ritsuko and Professor Akagi. Asuka is losing her synch ratio and takes her frustration out on Rei. As Misato mourns the loss of Kaji, Asuka becomes more withdrawn. The sixteenth angel shows up, Rei is launched to fight it, but Shinji arrives to helps and she self-destructs to save him. SEELE reveals only one angel remains. Ritsuko reveals to Misato and Shinji the dark secrets of NERV.
