One of Haneke's Best submitted by jibkidder on July 26, 2022, 3:37pm At times, Haneke's smirk can approach the annoyingness of Lars Van Trier, the trying middle finger of Lars Van Trier, though usually he is solidly superior to the Danish director. This is one of his best works - more artful than a simple provocation. This is a very layered film, and it deserves multiple views. Would make a great double bill with Lucretia Martel's "The Headless Woman" or even a triple bill with Ostlund's "The Square".
