Not As Good As Cold Mountain submitted by tudorprincess on June 20, 2017, 9:50am It was kind of interesting at first, but the idea of a white man being adopted by a native tribe and then becoming a "chief" is an an overused, boring trope (think Dances with Wolves, Avatar, yadda yadda). While it showed the plight of the Cherokee in a sympathetic light, it also played into stereotypes of Native Americans (one character named Bear was stoic and never said much, while several others were drunks). The only native character who had any depth was a "Scots Indian" named Featherstone who owned a plantation and had red hair and blue eyes. I would recommend passing on this one.
