Well-painted portrait of ancient Rome submitted by kabaldesch on May 16, 2007, 9:18am I love books that send me running to the dictionary to look up words. This book is a fictional biography of the Roman orator/senator Cicero, as told by his amanuensis (the word I had to look up), Tiro. It not only portrays the important events in Cicero's life, but also the waning of Rome as a Republic. If you enjoy historical fiction and/or are interested in the classical world, I highly recommend this book.
