Touching but funny film submitted by dumusicgirl on August 2, 2013, 2:09pm I have seen many films that relate to the Holocaust, memory, and Eastern Europe but I think this is one of the best I have seen. There are quite funny moments as well as very touching ones. I'd recommend this to anyone with an interest in history, memory, the Holocaust, collecting, etc.
Everything Is Illuminated submitted by SBNB on July 2, 2014, 9:57pm It's a good movie with a surprise ending.
worth watching submitted by mickplu on July 21, 2016, 9:32pm Strange, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always worth viewing.
In spite of the hilarious moments, I think this story is deep

Especially in the way the past is there, waiting for us to accept its truths.
The grandfathers connection to the Village massacre, a survivor, finds the only other survivor and together they bring the truth to the surface. Incredible.
Loved this slightly haunting film

What I thought would be an offbeat, light, funny drama turned into much more.
It's a serious film that stays with you.
And then there's the comedy - loved watching Eugene Hutz (of Gogol Bordello)!
