It's 1963, a time in the United States when life was simple, straightforward and the lines between the sexes and sex roles were crisply drawn and severely delineated. Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist find themselves thrown together when they are hired to tend sheep in the remote area of Brokeback Mountain, Wyoming. Because of the job, the two are forced to spend many hours together alone in the wild. Ennis and Jack are inexorably drawn to each other through their proximity, loneliness and through a shared lack of tenderness and emotion in their lives and are emotionally, physically and psychically bonded to each other almost from the start.
DVD, region 1, anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) presentation; Dolby Digital.
Contents: Brokeback Mountain.

Amazing Film submitted by xisui on January 23, 2008, 8:39pm Amazing film not to be missed. The actors are all excellent as as well as the direction of Ang Lee. The music is unforgettable and the movie is just heartbreaking.

heath ledger will be missed. his performance is remarkable.

Fantastic....... submitted by Stephen Sarbaugh on September 19, 2008, 5:41pm This movie is beyond fantastic, everything about it is unbeliveable. I can only say if you have an open mind and enjoy a wonderful love story then you should be checking it out instead of reading this. The acting(???) is so real I sometimes wonder if it is all acting . I have seen this movie several times and have to put it in my top 5 all time favorites. I wish I could give it more then 5 stars.

Be prepared submitted by larkspur on March 2, 2009, 1:52pm Brokeback Mountain I probably will never see again, but I don't have to. It's pretty seared in my memory.

On one hand, I do wish I could see it again, for the beauty of the craftsmanship--acting, visualizing, story-telling, and on and on. But I don't think I could emotionally handle being enmeshed again in those characters' suffering.

It's intense. Be amazed, but also try to know your limits.

a gay movie not! submitted by lekendrick on September 18, 2010, 6:49am an great outing must be said! Because this movie is a critic's dream the characters are only likable through lens of caught in a time penned the author of "Lonesome Dove" pushed forward in adaptation to post child support days the interplay of men who are for all intensive purposes heterosexual, but for the nature of a business as well personal relationship struck upon their actions can't be supported! The dishonesty surrounding the courtship must be condemned! Similar subject matter to "Far From Heaven" staring Julianne Moore, however in this one the female characters are after thoughts to the overtly male archetype cowboy or western I'm amazed so well received! Not an indictment killings like that of Matthew Shepard, but a quiet explanation as if with wife & children you'd get away with that? Must be said! Prior reviews hadn't fully prepared me for this particular quiet examination of isolationist America, but if a celebration of gay culture is what you were looking for you'll be disappointed! It's perhaps more properly filed under gender studies, than sexuality I'd given three one half stars, & felt bad, but for otherwise glowing remarks about it!

Terrific Film submitted by 0liviap0pp on July 17, 2011, 7:35am Brokeback Mountain is a wonderful movie with great acting and drama mixed with just the right amount of romance.

BM submitted by a2sue on August 13, 2015, 11:23pm "Brokeback Mountain" is a one-of-a-kind film -- I've never seen anything else like it. Highly recommended!

Painful, very painful submitted by ccrose on August 31, 2019, 4:10pm Every component of this film is believable, each character’s perspective is believable, The desperate heartbreak of the wife, the sad marriage down the road. it all rings true. And the acting made these men individuals, not stereotypes. The fear that harm will come...and it does.
