K is for Kick by Brad Herzog submitted by Melissa Calabrese on July 30, 2018, 11:01am Rhythmic text and excellent illustrations. This is a decent book for nurturing enthusiasm for the sport! However, it is noteworthy that this book greatly lacks images of diverse players.

Fairly Dense Alphabet Book submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 11:08am This book contains not only a poetic journey through the letters of the alphabet as they pertain to the game of soccer and its stars, but also informational panels associated with each letter that go into further depth about the featured concepts and other soccer subjects related to the same letter. Along with persistent odd choices in the poetic meter, the format makes for stilted reading, and the book works best read twice: once for the simple alphabet part and once for the supplemental facts. I did like the painted illustrations, which have a lot of rich texture to them, and the word choice is generally good although P really should have mentioned penalty kicks somewhere alongside Pelé. This book is a bit of a mixed bag but does offer a solid introduction to the sport for interested readers.
