Cozy mystery
submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 19, 2014, 8:55pm
A pleasant book, this novel will offend no one.
This is a cozy mystery, meaning it takes place in an idealized English village's quintessential event--the flower show. The story begins with a dispute over the judging of the tomato category but soon degenerates into one of those mysteries in which long-lost heirs show up (a terrible cliche).
I figured out who the murderer is before the second disc was done. I don't object to the use of genre conventions, but I dislike the book's lack of characterization and poor execution.
