COMMUNITY REVIEWS

good movie submitted by Ele Z. on August 22, 2011, 11:37am great

Original submitted by beeniepie on August 11, 2013, 11:21am I prefer the original.

Dune 1984 submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on July 22, 2016, 9:07pm I have a soft spot for this movie, and not just because I love the book it's adapted from (Dune by Frank Herbet). This movie is overlong, has serious pacing problems, and gets campy when it should be just weird or futuristic or even menacing. But Kyle McLachlan is wonderfully earnest as the young hero and does his best with the almost surreal fantasy/scifi subject matter and dialogue. Patrick Stewart plays Gurney Halleck - one of my favorite actors as one of my favorite characters. It's also famous for having Sting in it (yes, the musician) as a bad guy - who has an extremely memorable skimpy costume. It's a cult classic. I recommend watching it while giving yourself permission to make snarky comments about it, preferably with your favorite drinks and snacks and friends.
