Is there ever a deal-breaker when it comes to true love? What happens to the perfect couple when they suddenly want different things? First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes--a baby carriage. Isn't that what all women want? Not so for Claudia Parr. And just as she gives up on finding a man who feels the same way, she meets warm, wonderful Ben. Things seem too good to be true when they fall in love and agree to buck tradition with a satisfying, child-free marriage. Then the unexpected occurs: one of them has a change of heart. One of them wants children after all.--From publisher description.

Cliched and disappointing (read Giffin's other books instead!) submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 7, 2018, 6:19pm Well, this one was a lousy book to end the year on. I’ve loved several of Emily Giffin’s other books and thought they were quite clever as light reads go. This one disappointed in almost every way. To name a few: the sisters are clichés, the “wants a baby” sister’s solution is ridiculous, the speed of Ben & Claudia’s action is unlikely (and lack of attempt to come up with any kind of help for a solution seems just as unlikely), the Lake Como coincidence laughable, and the whole premise vs. ending in which a woman gives up that which matters to her most is INFURIATING. Women do this in almost every genre everywhere throughout history. Could we just have one story here where two people don’t want to have a baby and THAT’S OK? This book was a disappointment.
