A lot of food for thought submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 20, 2017, 8:12am Parts of this book were rough to read. I don't know that I wanted to know that much about what it's like to be a guy visiting a seedy strip club. And obviously some of the situations the author put herself in are not typical ones for men (like monasteries and men's therapy groups).

And yet.... She wasn't trying to find out what men experience everywhere in every way. She wasn't looking for an exhaustive catalog of male perspective. She was exploring some small subset of how men treat and are treated in American culture -- dating, weekly bowling, high pressure sales, etc. And that was enlightening. It's given me a little new perspective on the world the men I know live in, and a lot to think about regarding the world my son is growing up in. And that's pretty neat.
