Hilarious Action Rom-Com submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2021, 12:37pm This film is an excellent shoot-em-up action comedy that utilizes all of the potential of its unusual premise: what happens when two top assassins are married, neither one of them knowing the other’s true occupation? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have amazing chemistry and really sell the film’s various emotional beats, from normal marital bickering to fierce (and violent) competition to rediscovering what it was about each other that they fell in love with in the first place. A romantic comedy of sorts with excellent action sequences that make the most of their settings (a blissful suburban residence, a highway chase, a sporting goods store), the film’s blend of snappy dialogue and standard action movie antics still feels fresh and often had me laughing out loud. Even knowing all of the twists ahead of time, I return to this film frequently when I can’t decide what I’m in the mood for: rom-com, spy film, why not both?
