Aladdin submitted by TripleH123 on June 27, 2011, 4:11pm A great movie with lots of action and adventure. Focuses on Aladdin, a regular guy who loves princess Jasmine. Then when finds a magic and rubs it, out comes a genie who grants Aladdin 3 wishes. And that is where the story begins.
Great movie for the whole family to enjoy.

Apart from characters and the famous songs, nothing shines. submitted by brielle on August 16, 2012, 1:23pm Maybe I'm too old to be watching this movie, but while I loved Aladdin and a couple of the songs (namely, "A Whole New World"), the sparse humor and antiquated animation techniques coupled with the weak plot did nothing to impress me.

Robin Williams is at his best as the free-wheeling, largely improvised Genie, and the rest of the plot falls into place around him. Elements of action, comedy, and romance fit neatly together as the story progresses, and the songs are timeless classics. Aladdin is one of the great Disney animated films, and it's still compelling over 20 years after its initial release.

Mostly good submitted by FordAlpha on August 12, 2019, 10:57pm The songs are undeniably great, the writing snappy, the animation and voice work strong, Robin Williams' improvisational performance as the Genie unforgettable. But I can't get past the overtly racist, stereotyped tropes of many of the characters. In these depictions, darker skin = bad, lighter skin = good; more stereotypically "Arab" features = villain, more "European" features = hero. I also don't care for the sexualization of our heroine, Jasmine. Kids internalize these messages without realizing it.
