Sequel to: Uglies.
Sequel: Specials.
Finally surgically transformed into a "pretty," sixteen-year-old Tally, now gorgeous and programmed to think only happy thoughts, is plagued by tangled memories of living in the Smoke, a rebel colony of "ugly" runaways hiding from the Special Circumstances authorities.

WOW!!! submitted by tallyssinae R on July 2, 2008, 12:50am This book rocks!!! I am so glad I found this series and checked them out!! It's fast paced, attention getting and one never knows what will happen next at the turn of a page or even how the book ends to then start the next book!! Highly immmaginative and very gripping!

Sequel to a good book, but only that submitted by marielle on June 26, 2011, 11:20am This is the sequel to Uglies, which I would recommend without hesitation. I enjoyed Pretties, but it did not motivate me to seek out the remaining two books in the series. Rather than reading like a complete novel, Uglies rather seemed like a stopgap book until we get to the real plot movement in the remaining books.

There were also several elements of this book I felt were "unrealistic," which is to say, inconsistent with the universe the author created. I'd address them here, but they would spoil the plot.

SWEETNESS!!! submitted by Veroni2 on June 27, 2011, 5:52pm im a total bookworm and ive read a million books but the uglies series is one of my 4 favorite series. thats saying alot. well i guess not if u dont know me. but i live for great books and this series is definately what i would immediatly recommend. i dont care what anybody else says, this is an amazing book hands down. u will DEFINATLY be missing out if u dont read this series.

Good! submitted by ColeenT on July 12, 2011, 3:01pm Loved it!

Good submitted by Smileyfrowns on August 1, 2011, 10:59am Pretty good, but I don't like it as much as Uglies

Awesome submitted by Memoria1224 on August 2, 2011, 10:21am This is great! Tally is going to become a special! I hope she destroys the other specials.

Worth it submitted by xjasx on June 16, 2012, 11:59pm I waited forever to read this book because I stopped reading after states, but I wish i hadnt this was a really good book

OK submitted by alumeng.ajl on June 17, 2012, 8:11am This book was OK. I was kind of bored, and it was worse than the first book. It didn't motivate me to read the other books in the series.

Great submitted by marisal on June 21, 2012, 4:24pm I love this book almost as much as uglies. Almost everyone who i know who has read this book loves it. Read it!

Just OK submitted by ashflowtuff on June 29, 2012, 10:02am I liked the premise of this series, but thought the books were just OK.

filler in a series? submitted by camelsamba on August 26, 2015, 9:47pm I have to agree with Marielle's review - this felt like a stopgap book. It seemed like an awful lot of words & action for not much plot advancement. Repeated cycles where Tally does something, the consequence arises, a disaster is narrowly adverted, and then they move on to the next scenario. Not even sure if I want to read the next one - maybe I'll have my 15yo summarize it for me, since he also read them this summer!

2nd book submitted by maggotnico on August 9, 2022, 9:08am Not my favorite in the series, but still great!
