COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Silly story submitted by rimpopu on August 12, 2012, 8:08pm I guess it is not one of Karen Wallace's best. I don't understand why it needs french reference. The story is Lottie LaBelle adores her pet poodle Patrick. Hmm.. odd name for a dog. One day she refuses to eat her vegetables because her dog doesn't like vegetables. She decides to eat bread and cheese from then on for her every meal. Slowly as days goes by she turns into a mouse. A doctor tells her parents to give her vegetables to turn her back to a girl. But she refuses as enjoys being a mouse. She sleeps in her closet on the bunch of leaves, doesn't go to school, doesn't play with her friend Jeanette or her dog Patrick. She eats bread and cheese for every meal. Her parents and her friend Jeanette still talk to her as if she is a girl. That doesn't make sense at all. Anyway, Patrick is sad as he lost his play mate. One day a cat spots her in the garden, chases her but Patrick comes to her rescue. Then she decides to turn into a girl again by eating vegetables everyday. So she does. I don't like the way this tells children to eat veggies. The whole story is divided into 7 chapters, each anywhere from 4 to 9 pages. Some may find the story funny. The humor is somewhat lost in the long dragged out chapters. The illustration is not particularly attractive to keep the interest of the child. My kindergartener said this is a silly story and didn't want me to read it again.
