Shocking and Beautiful submitted by firstanointed on June 4, 2014, 10:26am I saw this movie years ago, & decided to write this review to say that this is one that DiCaprio fans should not go by without seeing. It's a frank statement on today's middle class youth who want to experience something outside their world by visiting out of the way places like this. See DiCaprio's trademark "psychedelic" look as few actors besides him can do. Tilda Swinton's performance is remarkable. This movie has many messages, but not preachy ones: There are consequences for everything even 'having fun' and always be aware of your actions especially how they can effect others. We have the power to change the world be changing ourselves first. What appears to be Paradise can truly be hell and visa versa. Death is a real aspect of life for all of us; we must remember the dead. Try to make your life stand for something worthwhile so others can be inspired. I love these messages, but this movie does have some really gorey, sad parts---all made worthwhile by the stunning performance of DiCaprio. A must watch!!
