Honest Abe submitted by jaegerla on June 13, 2011, 10:04am The most incredible part of this was how Lincoln DOES live on. He was such an incredible person and he lived his life so that he would be worthy of other peoples' admiration, and he really will live on for as long as our history stands. His last day on earth was heartbreaking. This also did a great job painting a picture of Mary Todd. What a colorful character!

First rate biography submitted by m steve on July 24, 2011, 4:58pm Of the more than 20 Lincoln biographies that I have read, this is my favorite. Goodwin paints a wonderful portrait of how Lincoln was able to set aside personal considerations for what was best for the Union. Lincoln rarely allowed insults or political pressures to divert him from seeing what was the right thing to do. The author describes the personalities with fine detail. Her description of the evolving relationship of Henry Seward and the President is, perhaps, the most compelling part of this book.

Well done submitted by hcf on July 25, 2014, 2:08pm Wonderful book by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Team of Rivals submitted by staceylbrockman on July 16, 2016, 2:27pm An excellent read; tells Lincoln's life story (biography), yet reads like a novel

President submitted by jduffy12 on August 30, 2019, 11:51am He was good president

President submitted by jduffy12 on August 30, 2019, 11:51am I like his work as s President

Deep Insights into the Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on August 24, 2020, 9:26am Lincoln knew that he wanted to bring together a team of the thoroughly best people after he was chosen president in 1860, and as he led the nation through the Civil War and the eradication of the institution of slavery. Three of his cabinet members had run against him in the 1860 election, including Secretary of State William Seward. An outstanding case study in bridging differences of opinion and using the diversity of perspectives to manage more efficiently.
