Intriguing submitted by cdfine on August 1, 2022, 10:00pm This is the wrong cover for the book. I was also a little disappointed that the book jacket gave away half of the content of the novel. This is Butler's LAST book she published, so definitely do not start with it if you're trying to get into Octavia Butler. Super clear and direct usage of science fiction in order to explore social justice concepts (race, sex, intersectionality, bigotry, family structure, sexuality, etc). Also there's an intentionally shocking number of sex scenes.

A good read submitted by khrobinson on August 18, 2023, 9:34am This is Octavia Butler's last novel and is an interesting reimagination of the backstory of vampires. It covers intersectionality and racism in a different species in a way that allows for new insights into human issues.
