So Good submitted by jibkidder on July 27, 2022, 9:35am Such a special film. A film this visually careful and slowpaced is unlikely to be funny, and yet it is very, very funny. Each frame is a visual feast. I can't help but compare Tsai's films to Apichat's. What I was struck with, recently, watching "Memoria" is how absolutely bored I was, how stiff the cinematography was, how even the strangest moments did not keep me from boredom. With Tsai, it's the opposite for me, it seems he could never manage to bore me, no matter how impossibly long a shot is. He has an impossible poetic gift of being able to imbue ruin with transcendence.
