the best submitted by adimarzo on July 7, 2011, 12:31pm I my opinion, this is the best Coldplay CD to date. Classic Coldplay sound. A good combination of upbeat and more moody numbers. Fix You is my absolute favorite Coldplay song. Swallowed by the Sea is another great mellow tune. And they do a great Johnny Cash cover at the end.

Much of the Same submitted by Meginator on August 2, 2017, 11:41am Coldplay is working within a very specific mode throughout this album, and though it causes a lot of the songs to run together it does provide a sense of cohesion. Either you like the sound they cultivate here or you don't; it's a bit too ethereal for my taste, with little to tether it to any solid foundations, but some tracks rise above the rest. X&Y is middle of the road for me, an example of a band doing what they do well without really pushing any boundaries.
