Interesting But Unfocused submitted by Meginator on July 3, 2020, 2:05pm This album didn’t move the needle much for me either positively or negatively, aside from a few great bass solos that I really enjoyed. The use of electronic bass lends the music a somewhat unique feeling, and the incorporation of flute is interesting, although the latter sometimes feels a bit untethered from the music as a whole. Chick Corea’s influences obviously range far beyond the standard jazz giants, for better and worse as the results are interesting but can seem unfocused as the band flits between ideas without really connecting them. This didn’t do a lot for me personally, but I can appreciate why it is popular.
