COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Planet Funkatron submitted by Caser on June 4, 2010, 9:36am There's nothing else on this planet quite as funky as Herbie Hancock's Headhunters album, and I'm pretty sure there never will be. Yes, I've heard Mothership Connection, The Meters, almost everything from the Godfather of Soul, and I know that Superfly is one of the nastiest soundtracks laid to wax. But they ain't Headhunters. If this record were a soup, it would be split-pea funkanoodle. If this album had its own axis in space, it would be Planet Funkatron. Herbie and company is so deep in the funkosphere here that even Stephen Hawking can't comprehend them. What this group does to Chameleon is like they took raw potatoes and make mashed funkatoes with heavy helpings of beat gravy. If this isn't the funkiest music you've ever heard in your life, it might be a good time to ask yourself if you're not from a different planet.
